Houston United win their opening match and MAFC dominate in their quest for a championship.
Houston United 2-0 University of Houston
Two teams that were considered close in skill level entering this season proved just that.
However, it wouldn’t take United long to get on the scoreboard thanks to a nice shot inside of the box in 9th minute from a corner kick. In all honesty, it was an absolute banger and one of the goals of season already.
Amidst the tough weather conditions, United found their second goal of the match in the 37th minute after a throw in on the right side that was not defended well by UH.
UH tried to get on the scoreboard, but United proved to be superior in their defensive actions and took home all three points.
MAFC 6-2 Dynasty FC
No video due to weather issues
Dynasty FC have lost their first two games in Volt League by a combined score of 11-3, but don’t let that be misleading; they’ve faced two of the title favorites right out of the gate. They’ll have a chance to pick up their first win of the season against the University of Houston.
As for MAFC, they’re very similar to their rivals AC Juniors in that they can score at will and are almost unbeatable when their offense is in sync. They have a game in hand on AC Juniors due to the delay of their first match, so although AC Juniors are technically first in the standings, MAFC could overtake them at any moment.
